A Paradise to Go: From Davao to El Nido

It’s been a while since I had the time to write anything new here – let me explain in three words: “We’re on vacation”. Need we say more? LOL.

Well, actually it’s been two weeks since we got back and we wanted to share our great experiences during our break. If you ever plan to travel to the beautiful paradise of El Nido, you can take a few ideas here.

Coming from Davao City we’ve booked our flight since August of last year, with Cebu Pacific’s “Piso Fare”. This helps if you’re on a budget. But then again, we advise you to also book tours for the places you wanted to visit in Palawan, I will get to that in the next articles we’ll be posting. For this, let me just basically tip you how to get there.

So, from an 8:30am flight from Davao City we arrived in Puerto Princesa Airport at 10:00am. Then a van service from FortWally Tours we contacted ahead of time, waited to take us to a seven-hour drive to El Nido. It costs PHP 700/pax (PHP 1,400 for two). I should also say that the experience with their service was quite disappointing, as the van went back and forth to the airport to pick up other tourists until the van has seated twelve persons, taking a bit of our time and an hour behind schedule.

It was a very long ride, but we stopped at a food shop for lunch halfway during the drive. Finally, we reached El Nido at about 6:00pm, where we checked-in at Nido Bay Inn of Brgy. Buena Suerte, overlooking the beautiful beach side views of El Nido.

For our first night, we head out to look for a dinner place which led us to The Alternative Bar and Restaurant, with prices ranging from PHP 150 to PHP 1,000 for their meals. The place is a native balcony-styled dining spot popular to foreigners.

We went to back to Nido Bay Inn for an early bedtime in preparation for our El Nido Island Tour the next day, which we’ll be posting in the next few articles – so, stay tuned!
