We were looking for a not-so-ordinary lunch last week and my determination to try something new (well, at least new for me) led us to Army Navy Burger + Burrito. This is one of those types of restaurants that have been there for a while but I never got the chance to try. Well, now I can say, "I DID"!
Army Navy has many branches all
over the Philippines, while here in Davao City their branches can be found at
Abreeza Mall and SM Lanang Premiere.
Macky and I came for a late lunch
in Abreeza Level 1 Space 1070 to the small and yet clean place of the
American-Mexican restaurant of Army Navy.
The white walls of the dining
area were filled with framed posters of their dishes, as well as usual traffic
signs with words that were customized for their food theme.
At the counter, a window with a Please Order Here can be found where you
fall in line to have your order, after which you will be given the receipt with
your customer number. After waiting to be called by the number, you’ll pick up
the order at their Pick Up window.
For this lunch, I’ve ordered something
I am familiar of (as I always see it in American TV) but have never tried
before.
We had:
Chicken Burrito which is flour tortilla filled with chicken meat,
Spanish rice, lettuce, cilantro, onions and beans. It was served with salsa and
a slice of lime. Other burrito choices are: Carnitas (Pork), Vegetable or
Steak.
At first look I was doubtful it
would satisfy my appetite, but boy was I so wrong! It was like a whole plate of
hot lunch rolled into one and ready to go. I was just able to finish half of it
and I was already full.
For sides we had Freedom Fries, seasoned, thin-cut,
crispy and zesty fries. Other sides’ options are: Onion rings and Tortilla
Chips. And for an added 20 pesos, you can have Cheese dip with Jalapeño.
Finally, I added in one order of Strawberry Milk Shake. The smooth and
creamy ice cream shake can be ordered in five favorite flavors: Strawberry,
Chocolate, Ube, Mango and Vanilla.
This was not the usual lunch for
me but I was surprised it lived up to my taste buds. I’d give it three out of
five stars!
